Cowboy Up…

Cowboy is his name. Cowboy is a Palomino Quarter Horse. I’m amazed to how gentle he really is. When I first went to see him, the owner (he and his wife are very nice people) said to me. Take this bailing string and put it around his neck and lead him. So, I did. Guess what? He did exactly as he was suppose to do. I hope this week I’ll get an opportunity to ride him. Right now we’re waiting for the other horses to calm down and accept him.

Tickle My Ears…

One name and a beautiful voice, Hayley Westenra. A few months ago I began listening to Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman. I wonderful if there were anyone else out there that sound just as beautiful as their voices. Well, needless to say, listening to Benedictus by Hayley almost brings tears to my eyes. The music, her voices and the choir are so amazing and beautiful. Here is a link to video of here singing on YouTube. Benedictus by Hayley Westenra

Reformation…

Here recently I’ve began using fountain pens as you may seen from some my previous posts. I aquired a new pen that is the Reform 1745. I’m quite impressed over the overall handling taking into account its size since it is considerably smaller than my Van Gogh Midi. In the same respect it is a piston filler, therefore it holds alot more ink than most of my other pens. The nib seems to lay down a smooth wet line and works really well with my small handwriting. Finally, the price was incrediable. Under $10 you can own a fountain pen like this one for your own enjoyment. While, I paid a little bit extra for the nib to be grounded it was worth every penny and writes almost as well as my Pelikan M400- White Tortoise.

Jirbo ^^BREAK^^

I am truly happy with Apple’s decision to allow 3rd-party apps for the iPhone. Overall, the apps available have gone above and beyond the basic features that have allowed me to become more organized and productive. Furthermore, I am satisfied with the games as well. One in particular is the game mentioned in the title of this post. The functionality and game control is smooth. Best part was, it was free!

HSTI 2008 Day 1

Driving to Hot Springs was a long and lonely 3 hour drive. Since I was by myself I was able to drive around and see what Hot Springs has to offer. Fortunately I was able to hang out with some folks from other school districts that I knew.

4 (in the morning)…

Yesterday, I decided to do a favor for a co-worker. We’ve been preparing computers for distribution at the high school for 4 days and have yet to get them into place. Every time we’d image the majority of them we would find some program or a minor setting we left out. We were suppose to have roughly 100 computers ready and distributed by Monday. Thursday afternoon we had 7 done. Take for granted we had imagined them already about two or three time already and now we finally had all the software up to date. Well, now we have one day to finish the rest and get them out. At roughly 8 ‘o clock I decided to go back to work and finish it up. I replaced the existing wanna-be switch with a Cisco 3550 with a gigabit backbone back to the core. Then I started imaging. It was going quite smoothly until I decided to reboot our web server to install some more updates. BIG MISTAKE! Although, I’d rather know sooner or later, yet 1 in the morning wasn’t the best time. I was almost done with the imaging when I learned that the web server didn’t wanna come back up. SCSI errors everywhere. Fortunately, rebuilding Moodle isn’t difficult, but time consuming. Convenient enough I had an extra server in the rack I could use. Installing SLES was the first time and it seemed like forever after deciding to install the updates before I did the actual conversion. While that was happening I used an Ubuntu cd to extract all the data from the old server and thankfully there was nothing wrong with the drives, yet it turns out to be some issues the software ( still don’t know what happened.) 3 hours later I’m leaving and going home, to bed. I’ll see the crew on Monday.

reading list…

I know it’s been awhile since my last post, but here’s a new one. I recently discovered a web site that allows you to catalog your collection of books. Librarything.com is easy to use. I’ve have been looking for a site such as this for a long time. Lately I’ve been using Bento, a personal database software for Mac, to do the same thing. Now I have a way of keeping up with my collection and also allowing others to see what I have as well. Check it out, but dont’ take my word for it.

To view my collection click the link, “personal library” in the Links sections on the site.
